Cylinder gasket

The cylinder gasket is installed between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. It seals the contact surface between, to prevent air leakage, water leakage and oil leakage.The material of the cylinder gasket should be elastic, so that it could compensate the unevenness of the faying surface, to ensure sealing. In the meantime, the material should be of good heat and pressure resistance, which enable them to keep good condition without burn and deformation. Gasket with copper-asbestos structure is mostly used. There are three layers of copper at the flange, so it is not easy to deform when compressed. In some engines, the gasket applies woven wire mesh or perforated steel plate in the asbestos center as the framework, of which two sides are stick and compressed with asbestos and rubber.
